Last day in the States

Our flight out of San Francisco was delayed by several hours, so we had a little more time in the city our last day than originally planned.  Here's Bea, riding in the car away from the house with her new water bottle.

Crossing the bay bridge we smelled foul smoke and were passed by a convoy of emergency vehicles.  The traffic didn't get backed up too much, so passing the wreckage we could rubberneck this scene of firefighters and dead bimmer.

We got to Golden Gate Park where we saw buffalos...

... and a familiar looking greyhound.

The deYoung museum was closed, so we missed the view from the tower.

So we headed to the Beach Chalet for sandwiches and beers before heading to the airport.

The trip was long and uneventful.  We sat next to a buyer for Peet's on the flight to Paris and then had a few hours to kill at CDG.  We found these to take home to Madeleine...

Happy Birthday toots!

Last day (but not really)

For our last dinner in California we walked over to Solano for some fancy Mexican food and cocktails at Fonda's.

On the way home I got a classic NW fix with jalepeno chips and apricot wheat beer.

This morning, after learning about our dramatically delayed flights, Bea played with the "brain noodles" grandma has to play with.

Wedding brunch

We had to rearrange everything in the house to accommodate the crowd we expected for the wedding brunch on Saturday, especially since it was pouring rain all day.  A big crowd turned out, and there was plenty of food, so all in all it was a big success.

Kyrsten and Leon's wedding

...And finally the big day arrived.  After spending most of the day prepping the house for the wedding, we all got dressed and headed for the hills.

...waiting for the arrival of the bride in Muir woods.

Kyrsten arrived accompanied by mom and dad.

The ceremony itself, officiated by John Collins in the shade of redwoods in Fern Creek clearing.

The bride and groom arriving for the toast at Muir Beach overlook.

Riding the elevator to the reception.

Pizza and beer at Jupiter in Berkeley.

Day before the wedding

Some shots from the day(s) before the wedding.  There were a couple of days of food trucks and farmers' markets off of Shattuck in Gourmet Ghetto we patronized.  Bea had a pretzel at the market.

And we saw this cool kidback tandem.

All the kids together, enjoying a stage production of The Cat in the Hat.
