Hornborgasjön

We took advantage of the fantastic weather yesterday and took our semi-tradtional road trip to Honborgasjön to see the migratory cranes. 18,200 of them if the official statistics are to be believed.

Bea sketched the birds...

...as Hans photographed them through a monocular.

We drove to this visitor's center to watch the birdwatchers...

...and then came home to celebrate earth hour in semi-darkness.

Sewing

Bea spent the day behind the sewing machine, making herself a purse, a wall hanging, and other projects.

Bea builds a boat

We spent a sunny weekend in Falkenberg, swapping out the winter tires on the car and relaxing. Bea finally got access to her toolbox again, after we accidently left it there after Christmas. Using some scraps of wood from her box project she made a boat, and launched it at the beach.

When Bea got to school today (wearing a bit of green as you can see... a leprechaun visited her early this morning) Klara had prepared this nice bag for her. Best friends!

Spring comes to Göteborg

We've had some glorious days here in Sweden this week. After school Bea and Terrie and Hans have been exploring the hills over Majorna...

Säfsen

We had a great weekend skiing in the mountains at Säfsen with the Westenhoff family, who have a daughter Bea's age. We booked apartments in this huge house...

Sebastian, Francis, and Karolina.

...not our fireplace, but rather one at a lodge.

Bea and Saskia.

The skiing was ok, despite the above-freezing temperatures.

There was time for other activities, like coloring...

...and exploring nearby creepy abandoned paper mills.
