Luke came down from Oslo to celebrate Hans's birthday weekend. We had pretty decent weather all weekend, and one good meal after another. On Friday, when Luke arrived, we had a little Oktoberfest, with a variety of beers and homemade laugenbrezel.

Maybe a few too many beers were enjoyed before this picture was taken... On Saturday we hit the farmers' market in Haga before heading out to the woods to grill sausages over an open fire and look for mushrooms.

Hans's new hatchet, a gift from Matt and Emilie, came in handy.
We didn't have too much luck finding chantarelles, but did come across this little colony, which made a nice sauce...
...for the birthday dinner of grilled beef tenderloin, homemade fries, grill-sauted greens, and roasted tomatoes with a Washington syrah.

And of course a cake (dairy free) for dessert.

On Sunday we ran some errands, and then went to the bike club to watch the World Championship race, live from Florence, and to make a serve panzerotti. Bea was a big help.

Costa from Portugal won.
