The end of August

We can't end the summer without a visit to the self pick farm and a crayfish party!

First day of first grade

School starts today, and Bea attended first grade with all her friends from last year and her new teacher Juhani. Tomorrow they get their math books!

A day out

We decided that Gaspard should get a chance to play with his good buddy Polo from the kennel (plus there were Terrie's puppies to see!) and the rain we had last week means that there should be mushrooms in the forest. So we packed up the car and headed eastward for a day in the countryside.

We stumbled upon a grange that was having a sort of openhouse. The ladies learned about lacemaking.

Tractors and tools. Hans bought a pound of beeswax.

The skies opened up just as we arrived at Stefan's. We had to wait in the car for a while for the weather to chill out, then went inside for some coffee. We had chocolate chip cookies with us, and Gaspard was so good with the puppies.

Stefan took us to a favorite wood of his, where the dogs could frolic a bit while we looked for mushrooms. Just a small handful of chantarelles were found, but the ladies picked almost a whole liter of blueberries! Blueberry pancakes for breakfast today!

Back in Göteborg
